What is somatic meditation?
This is meditating with the body - soma. We practise meditation in a guided manner to feel our bodily sensations, often known as felt-sense. The practice cultivates stillness by embodying body sensations while in the flux of ever-changing thoughts and emotions.
In a therapeutic environment, somatic meditation helps to be in contact with our body in entirety rather than dissociating from the reality. It makes us aware of the present moment rather than being caught up in thought loops and habitual patterns. By feeling more from within, we gradually live more from within.
It is my privilege to share this beautiful practice with She Oak, a community dedicated to rewilding our world, at both a personal and planetary level. Nothing more can fill my heart than bringing the awareness of our root with Mother Earth, Mother Divine.
I am grateful to share these series of somatic meditations with you, taking us on the journey of creation. I humbly weave my knowledge gained from ancient traditions and practices, together with modern science and healing art. I sincerely hope it serves as a fulcrum to harness our innate intelligence and elevate our inner perception.
Let's begin our journey with the elementals, remembering the qualities of earth, water, fire, air and ether. With the universal force of Love, the elementals manifest into forms. The organising matrix of creation is the Breath of Life, arising from profound stillness, the gateway to our truths. Breath of Life is the gift of our first breath, the breath of the Mother in the womb of spirit.
5-part series inspired by physiology, Chinese medicine and yogic traditions of energy centres, and mantras.
Earth grounds us with the Mother, the womb of all lives. Water encourages vulnerability and tunes us with our feminine self. Fire burns obstacles and clears the path to manifest our dreams. Air gives us clarity and tunes us with our masculine self. Ether brings us intuitive understanding and connects us within and without. Let's invoke each elemental and allow our inner being to dance!
3-part series inspired by physiology, embryology, essence of craniosacral therapy and energy medicine.
Love is the primordial force of creation. As the elementals take form in the womb of spirit, Love breathes us Life. As we journey from womb time, we remember the potency of conception. As we grow in embryo time, we ignite in the potency of primordial heart. As we journey through birth time, our heart is born, Love becomes alive! It's all about Love, the Breath of Life.
3-part series inspired by physiology, restorative yoga, ancient knowledge of spiritual alchemy.
"You are the soul of the soul of the Universe, and your name is Love" - Rumi
Descending through the rainbow bridge, our soul takes form. Ascending through the rainbow bridge, our soul returns to Love.
As we journey through the heart of the rainbow bridge, we return to the primordial potency of our being, remembering our unified heart with Divine Mother in her womb of spirit.
